FEEL

This selection of paintings is meant to spark feelings and emotions. I invite you to first find your own interpretation before you read my interpretation of the painting. Let the painting talk to you, be open, you could be surprised of what you could see and feel.

(If you prefer happy paintings, bottom ones are more for you!)

Going Down the Rabbit Hole

This piece captures the start of self-reflection, with an intense look inward. At first, you think it will be okay, like a little cruise down memory lane with a couple bumps. But the deeper you go, the harder it gets. Complex connections and emotions keep appearing. Curiosity turns into confrontation. You’re going down the rabbit hole.

Broken Incubation

This painting shows the breaking of an emotional shield. When too many feelings build up, we often create a thin wall. We see the emotions but avoid engaging with them. But the wall is not so strong, a deep conversation with someone can break it and everything eventually comes out.

Overwhelmed

In this work, I capture the moment when life’s noise begins to disturb one’s inner peace. Whether it comes from too much work, conflicts, or unfortunate events, there is only so much one can bear.

My Burnout

This piece reflects the intensity of my burnout.
Each colour represents one part of my daily life.
Through the colours, I wanted to express that burnout
does not necessarily arise from an overwhelming
negativity. It rather develops due to the build-up of too
many negative and positive situations, relations, tasks,
duties, deadlines, preparations, and mental charge.

passion

Passion

With this piece I explore the concept of passion, the consuming love many of us experience at least once. It’s explosive like the shots of hormones we feel in our belly. But there is rarely anything left once it is gone. Passion burns everything in its trail, that’s why I used ash.

Anxiety Explosion

Creative proof of anxiety. Anxiety is not necessarily dark but it definitely is intense. Like this painting made at 3 AM after a panic attack. Can you see the need to action?

who's peace of mind?

Who's peace of mind?

This painting was made out of rage. Rage for how the mental peace someone strive to preserve can come at tremendous costs for people around them. This obvious contrast comes to question the former situation and a potential adjustment to make:  sometimes, one’s peace of mind needs to be disturbed a little bit (more) so that everyone can reach harmony.

The contrast also illustrates the lack of communication. Wouldn’t 5 minutes of (maybe uncomfortable) discussion avoid weeks of restlessness and anxiety?

Communication might lead to 5min of discomfort but it avoids 2 weeks of restlessness. Life would be so much better if this was internalized, don’t you think?

Spirale Infernale

This painting captures the difficulty of life. When light is being sucked out of you and you feel like it cannot be stopped. Darkness takes over everything and lets you see only enough light so that you survive to keep on suffering.

emotions out

Emotions out

This piece started off as a very clean contained dark background, translating how I felt I needed to present on the outside even if on the inside I was feeling so much. It did not last long. I let all my emotions out on the canvas, destroying metaphorically and literally the clean contained facade I was holding.

process

Process

This piece represents the hard journey of processing complicated life events. It is a long process. Some steps are harder to take than others. There’s always more coming and it is a never ending journey. All you can do is hope it gets better, because it does. Believe me.

Tired

This painting captures the tiredness of going through the same situation over and over again. It’s with different people, sometimes in a new context but it gives you the same feeling, the same pain to accept and process.

You can read this painting through two elements. The faded background is very unusual for my style but conveys this fatigue. At the same time, so much is happening in green and red: a few different movement types, but many are similar, symbol of the recurrent events of life.

Finding peace

This painting illustrates how I felt on the moment I felt finally at peace with old wounds. It happened after a couple vulnerable discussions. When they happened, I just felt like something just healed in me. I wish everyone to feel this and feel the simplicity and light after a healing moment.

Relax...

This piece was made in an attempt to relax, and ended up looking relaxing (as did the video of its creation, see Instagram). There is a harmony in the colors and patterns that appeases.
