REFLECT
This selection of paintings is meant to be reflective. They were painted with a situation in mind to untangle, an inner feeling to understand. I invite you to let it talk to you first, see what it sparks in you (a memory, a feeling, a situation). You can find my interpretation on its side, enjoy!
Golden Hour
The artist's interpretation
This piece reflects on happiness, not as perfection, but as balance. You can feel happy even when sadness or frustration is part of the landscape. As long as they don’t take the centre of your life, they make happiness more real, and maybe even more beautiful.

Guess what it is?
The artist's interpretation
This painting started as a twist on a subject I often saw painted online. Over time, it unexpectedly became an experiment with everyone who saw it. In five years, only four people have guessed the intended shape on their first try, yet no one can unsee it once told the answer.
Now it is your turn, can you guess what it is?

Inner Battle
The artist's interpretation
This piece explores the inner conflict rising when having contradicting emotions or
thoughts. It can feel like a war.
The greens attack the reds on two fronts. Reds defend on both fronts from their bases.
Then, the reds strike back with full force. The greens are exhausted from their massive attack. They cannot defend anymore.
Who wins? Must one side win?

Co-existence
The artist's interpretation
… or can there be peace, with both sides co-existing?
This painting explores that possibility: that two opposing emotions or thoughts can live side by side. The composition, inspired by the Dutch-Belgian borders, shows how allocated space can actually bring peace and connection.

Talking to a wall
The artist's interpretation
This painting took me almost a year to finish. Not because it was so difficult to do skill-wise. But because it was so difficult to accept what it meant.
Each line in it made me closer to having to accept what it meant. Each line was another attempt at trying to get through the wall I felt my family was. Each time I came bigger, angrier, louder, sadder, and each time it didn’t go through.
One day I gave up and calmed down and just talked. Miraculously it went through. Of course not to the extent I have always wished for, but seeds were planted. The wall was lightly infiltrated. Hope was reborn.

Information spread
The artist's interpretation
(TW: mention of SV)
I made this painting after a discussion I had that should not even had taken place in the beginning. Most topics are up for debate but some aren’t (read rape).
To me, this painting represents the way information and opinions spread. Sometimes information hits a wall of stupidity and ignorance but most often it spreads and does good.
Through this painting, I want to give hope to people who have been victim of violence. Although it does not always seem like it, things are changing. Through education and other means, gender-based violence is going down.

Forest of Choice
The artist's interpretation
This painting illustrates the choice many artists face: “Do I commit fully to art, or keep it alongside another path?” One route feels defined and familiar; the other glows with possibility but is full of unknown.
The position of the signature mirrors someone standing at that crossroads: between two paths, between clarity and the unknown.

Beautiful Disaster
The artist's interpretation
This work captures the moment in a relationship when things start breaking. The trust, the love, the happiness are all cracking. But there are still those beautiful moments full of light, that help (or condemn?) you to hold on to the other.

Breakup Process
The artist's interpretation
This piece was made following the same process as did my healing process after a breakup.
It started with denial of the feelings’ intensity which grew (progressively darker red) until it reached full anger (purple).
Then came endless spirals of sadness (grey), which turned slowly into bitter sweet memories (from spirals to waves, from grey to light blue).
It ended with feeling grateful for the memories and understanding the point of the process (little blue thingies).

Amsterdam: The Melting Pot
The artist's interpretation
First painting exhibited ever!
The exhibition’s theme was simply Amsterdam. Anything we want, as long as it’s about Amsterdam. So I asked myself how do I experience Amsterdam.
The answer was crystal clear: I love how international it is while still gathering us around the Dutch culture. Amsterdam allows us to be ourselves with our different nationalities while supporting cultural exchanges among all represented cultures and the Dutch culture.
I wanted to convey and celebrate this melting pot of nationalities within the friendly Amsterdam-context and show how rich and beautiful it is.

Mirror
The artist's interpretation
This painting reflects the duality we sometimes feel in our own reality, as if we’re living two versions of the same moment.
Both can be deep and nuanced, yet completely opposite.
The different shades of blue express those contrasts while still creating a quiet harmony.

Arachnophobia
The artist's interpretation
This painting illustrates what is it like to have arachnophobia: pretending gardens and nature is not beautiful to make easier renouncing to go in it.
This painting has a light grey filter on purpose. It’s an illustration of the impact of arachnophobia. The fear to go wherever spiders will definitely be.
